What to remember from the 3D Print Paris 2022 show

The second edition of 3D Print Paris ended last Thursday at the Palais des Congr̬s in Paris. For two days, many French Рbut also international Рplayers were able to present their solutions dedicated to additive manufacturing, from design software to post-processing machines, not to mention materials and 3D printers.

And this year, it is clear that the challenges of sustainability and productivity are at the heart of the concerns: users are looking for reliable, fast and repeatable solutions while paying particular attention to the ecological footprint.

Just look at the typology of startups present at the show. Most presented innovations directly related to environmental issues, circular economy or waste reduction.

Be that as it may, 3D Print Paris 2022 will have brought together many visitors and clients, confirming the importance of face-to-face trade shows and this desire to meet again after difficult years.

It would also seem that the French offer is being structured, with a desire to organize these additive manufacturing meetings every other year in Paris and Lyon. In any case, the next edition of the 3D Print Congress & Exhibition will take place on October 11 and 12 at Paris Expo, Porte de Versailles, a larger place that should bring together even more people.

The Fabweaver presented at 3D Print Paris 2022

With 46 years of existence in the industry, Delta Equipment presented several additive manufacturing solutions during the show, including machines such as Photocentric, miniFactory and 3DPlateform.

Above all, the company exhibited the Fabweaver A530 printer for the first time in France . The eponymous brand was developed by Sindoh who has more than 10 years of experience in 3D printing. It offers a complete solution for all manufacturers wishing to have it in a simple, intelligent and reliable way.

The Fabweaver A530 allows, thanks to its heated enclosure up to 75°C and its plate at 110°C, to print materials such as ASA and ABS with quality and all for an affordable budget. Its strength is to have all the features expected by all 3D manufacturers. Materials are intelligently managed economically, reliably and precisely, all interconnected with possible fleet management. Markforged and its range of solutions for Industry

Manufacturer Markforged was exhibiting for the first time at 3D Print Paris and had one of the largest stands at the show. He presented many solutions, whether metal machines, polymers or solutions dedicated to composite materials.

Among the novelties presented, the FX20, a large format 3D printer capable of reinforcing the ULTEM™ 9085 filament in continuous carbon fiber. It offers a build volume of 525 x 400 x 400 mm and a Z layer resolution of 50 μm – 250 μm. On the materials side, Markforged has developed a Smooth TPU 95A in order to design flexible parts that can withstand shocks. Users will thus be able to manufacture seals and sealing parts or even treads and protective coatings.

Finally, the American manufacturer took advantage of the show to present its recent acquisitions, namely Teton Simulation, the originator of SmartSlice , and Digital Metal, a powder bonding specialist . Markforged is thus integrating Binder Jetting technology into its range of solutions, a first for the company, which intends to strengthen its expertise and know-how throughout the world.

A wide range of solutions at 3D Print Paris 2022

If some exhibitors present were already there in 2021, it is clear that the aisles had new faces for this second edition. We can cite manufacturers such as HP or Xact Metal, printing services such as Novadditive, or even resellers such as EM3D.

The show registered 60% of new exhibitors! He was also able to count on the presentation of new products such as the Handyscan 700 Elite 3D scanner from Creaform, present on the 3D Solutions stand; AdditiveLab simulation software ; a PC/PBT (HT-UV-IMPACT) filament from Rosa3D, seen on the Atome3D stand.

We also saw a collection of 3D printed clothing by a young 24-year-old designer, Clémence Borneat. She relied on polymer 3D printing and Calais lace to design a first capsule collection where craftsmanship and technology combine perfectly. In another register, we tasted pastries printed in 3D by the Digital Pâtisserie and were seduced by these chocolate and raspberry delicacies!

Startups full of promise

Finally, 3D Print Paris once again organized the Startup Contest which aims to reward the most innovative startup in the additive manufacturing sector. This year, 10 applications were submitted, with French, German, Swiss and Italian representation. Of these startups, 6 were nominated and this year there was a lot of focus on 3D printing materials.

Whether plastic, metal or even marble, our young shoots offer innovative concepts and some are even centered on a strong environmental policy, the objective being to considerably reduce our carbon footprint. This year, the startup that won the trophy is POOLP: it transforms plastic waste and biosourced materials into 3D printed products using large format technology.

The startup Minorga received the jury's Coup de Coeur prize for its stone filament, which can be extruded on FDM machines. This one is made from an alloy composed of 80% marble. Congratulations to all the startups and see you next year!

Precisely, we will meet on October 11 and 12, 2023 in Paris, at the Parc Expo de la Porte de Versailles, for a new edition of the 3D Print Congress & Exhibition! .
